Hello! My name is Clay Grabow, and I am from Howell Michigan, a smaller town about a half hour east of Lansing.
I never really saw myself going into an art related field when I was growing up until I took my first graphic design class my junior year of high school and fell in love from the start. After taking that class my junior and senior year it led me to CMU to peruse a BFA in graphic design.
I would say a big influence in my design work comes from the skateboard and snowboard culture where I have created my own board designs with a simplistic aesthetic but with the linework for a more hand drawn feel. My favorite part about being a designer is to take ideas and make them, and see the final result, because there is no better feeling than spending all of that time working on a project and being able to see the finished product.
Favorite Typeface: Futura Heavy Oblique
Favorite Software: I would say my favorite Adobe software would have to be Illustrator because I really enjoy logo design.
After Graduation Plans: Pretty much right after graduation I will be searching for a job and hopping right into it. The type of work that I would like to do would probably be logo and identity design or web design. For where I would want to live I am pretty much down for anywhere because I would prefer to find a more remote job or at least hybrid.
